Bernard Hill – The Narrator
Great news today! Bernard Hill (Lord of the Rings, Titanic) has just recorded the narration for The Wraith!
I got in touch with Bernard a month or so ago and he agreed to be part of the project. So yesterday while killing time in the capital we went into a cool little voice over recording studio and recorded the narration for the film. It sounds fantastic and I’ve spent the day editing the narration into the film and preforming the final grade.
We’re almost there now. Just a few private screenings to iron out any creases and chop it down to time (15 mins for most short film festivals). Then it’s press pack time and it’ll be sent out to festivals around the world.
Watch this space for festival news! xxx
Animation-tastic!
Hello! It’s been a while since we updated but we’ve been feverishly working on the editing, the music, the visuals and even an animation for the end credit sequence. So apologies for not getting back to you sooner.
After the shooting was complete we jumped right in on the editing. We definitely managed to get the coverage although you always want more with hindsight but the story is king and that’s covered, so kudos all round for that one. We’ve been noodling with some visual effects but in actual fact we’re laying off for the most part. The film has taken on quite an organic feel and we’re starting to feel like adding in FX for the sake of it is a big no no on this one.
We did however decide a while ago that we wanted to include a stop motion sequence for either the opening titles or the end credits and so we set about doing that. We set up a pretty simple but charming sequence using props from the film and animated using a Canon DSLR, Macbook and Dragon Stop Motion (if you ever need to do any stop motion, then use this software, it’s awesome!).
It took a day, which is probably fairly quick in stop motion terms, but the end result is cool. We added some FX afterwards just to give it an other-worldly feel and we’re really happy with the result. There are some photos below of the set up.
We’ll be back soon with a music special. x
Shooting complete!
Woo hoo! We’ve finished shooting for The Wraith. It all went really well. Three days of mercifully kind weather helped us through.
It’s now onto the editing and the rest of the post-production which should hopefully take no more than a month….famous last words. So here’s a few production photos…
Girl up a tree in a field…
We’ll be shooting more exteriors in Nottingham today. Two more scenes to go and we’re done! Epic!

New location shots
We’ve finally decided on the location. The Medieval Bishop’s Palace in Lincoln and Newstead Abbey in Nottingham.
We went for a jolly yesterday and took some photos to celebrate…
Goblin in progress
The goblin is coming along. It’s a modified Rug Rats doll with a mixture of new fittings – eyes, mouth parts and latex.

Costume Design realised
The dress design is finally realised. We went for red to avoid the obvious White cliche but also add depth to the colour palette.

First Day of Filming
Great times!! We’ve just finished our first day of shooting at Wollaton Park in Nottingham. It was covered in snow and the shots looked great. We had to cut it short due to the sleet and snow which wouldn’t let up, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles sometimes.
We got some really nice footage which will definitely be used and managed to get one scene ticked off the list.
As we had the snow we thought we’d do some promo shots with Katie (The Wraith). The costume and make-up dept. did us proud!!
Location photos
We’ve confirmed the location for the shoot this weekend. Wollaton Park in Nottingham is perfect. It’s a huge park with a secluded little deciduous wood next to a bushy evergreen wood – two or three great locations right next to each other!
It’s covered in snow at the moment so it’ll be great for some of the shots we need. It’s got a really erie vibe to it. It’s really cold though so I don’t envy our Katie walking around in bare feet!
“Frozen Britain” – Perfect shooting conditions!!
Looks like perfect shooting conditions to me! Let’s do it!
Half of the script calls for a “Winter Garden” so all being well we’re going to make the most of it. First day of shooting this weekend. Better pack the thermos (and the A-Line flares with pockets in the knees)!
